Mentoring/Technical Workshop in Ghana, July 2013


uganda-july-2012The workshop in Ghana was split up into two parts. The first part was an informational session for members interested in pursuing graduate studies in Economics abroad. Topics covered included the admission requirements, application process, etc. About 30 people participated in the workshop.

The second workshop was modeled after the CSWEP nation CeMENT workshop. There were twelve junior researchers and eight international senior faculty mentors. Participants were arranged into small groups based on their research area and group members and mentors discuss and offered feedback on the participants’ research. In addition, the workshop included a number of larger how-to sessions on topics such as writing grant proposals and research papers, publishing in international scholarly journals, presenting papers at conferences, and balancing family and career responsibilities.
